Romantic getaway to Nice

With its micro-climate and its heavenly bay, Nice is perfect for enjoying the warmth of the Mediterranean on a romantic getaway. There are 35 beaches across 7 km. Some of them are private and offer loungers, parasols, cabins, showers and restaurants with a superb view over the open sea. As for public beaches, the Centenaire and Carras beaches in particular have been adapted to facilitate disabled access to the sea. The Centenaire beach can also lay claim to have been made the first “no smoking” beach in France in 2012. Since that date, three other beaches here have gained that label: Lenval, Sainte-Hélène and Bains Militaires.

As well as being ideal for sunbathing and swimming, the coast around Nice also has safe, designated areas where you can enjoy a wide array of water sports. A few minutes from the hotel, for example, is Blue Beach. Located in front of Negresco, it offers sports like parasailing, stand-up paddling, water skiing and fly-fish. To get your adrenaline pumping on jet-skis or water scooters, try the Carras beach, and if you’re interested in kayaking, head on down to one of the many water sports clubs at the pleasure port. The port is also the departure point for the many excursions offered by professionals to the best diving sites in the area.

Its unique light and character

Nice tourism

The Côte d’Azur’s capital is the ideal place for a holiday. The Promenade des Anglais, the sun-bathed beaches, Place Masséna, Old Nice and Cours Saleya, the tree-lined gardens, the museums, the carnival, the jazz festival - Nice really is the capital of joie-de-vivre.

Promenade des Anglais

Nice owes its international fame to the Promenade des Anglais. Stretched along the Baie des Anges, it was originally just a 2 metre-wide path created in 1820 by a visiting English vicar using his own funds. Baptised the “chemin des Anglais” (the English path) by the local population, the enlarged pathway was inaugurated in 1931 by one of Queen Victoria’s sons.

Place Masséna

Built in the middle of the 19th century, Place Masséna, an icon of Nice, is a must-see right by the hotel. On the north side, you’ll find elegant buildings and arcades adorned with Pompeiian red. On the east side, you’ll get beautiful views looking towards the hills.

Old Nice

Until the 18th century, the old town was the entire city of Nice. In these picturesque surroundings, admire the Baroque palaces and churches, the colourful façades and the quaint little streets.  At the heart of Old Nice, experience Cours Saleya, with its warm and lively market.

The Basilica of Notre-Dame is the largest church in Nice and is the first modern religious building. Inspired by Angers Cathedral, it is ornamented with stained glass windows from the 19th century, and features two square towers and a rose window representing scenes of the Assumption.

Nice Carnival

The city has events and festivals throughout the year that remind you of all its tremendous joie-de-vivre. The Nice Carnival, the Côte d’Azur’s top event, held at the end of winter just before Lent, has a whole line-up of unforgettable shows which are well worth a trip to Nice.  Each year, it attracts nearly a million visitors from around the world.
